The Soormiyun Agenda for Pakistan
Four dimensions of sustainable development, shaped by Pakistan's rivers, regions, crafts and communities, and led by women.
Cross-cutting: SDG 5, Gender Equality
Every program is designed with and for women and girls, and measured by who participates and who leads.
Cross-cutting: SDG 17, Partnerships
We work with government, universities, embassies, cultural centres, artisans, media and community groups.
Contribution: SDG 16
Dialogue, participation and cultural diplomacy build trust and more inclusive institutions across Pakistan.
1. Resilient Land and Climate
Environmental resilience
Floods, heatwaves, melting glaciers, drought and water stress hit Pakistan's farming families and cities hard, and women carry much of the burden.
Women-led adaptation through Eco-Saheli: climate awareness, tree and clean-up drives, school programs, local conservation projects and advocacy for gender-responsive climate policy.
2. Heritage Economy
Prosperity and livelihoods
Skilled artisans and rural women earn little from crafts and traditions the world admires, and many lack market access.
Linking artisans and women entrepreneurs with markets, supporting sustainable production, and showcasing their work at our cultural events. This builds on our founder's work with Takori.
3. Learning for Leadership
Knowledge and skills
Young Pakistanis, especially young women, have few pathways into diplomacy, policy and international forums.
The Young and Female Diplomats Academy, Young Heroes for Climate Action in schools, and Soormiyun Voices, our blog and publications in English, Urdu and regional languages.
4. Every Voice
Inclusion and participation
Women, youth, and minority and regional communities are often missing where decisions on climate, culture and development are made.
Soormiyun Dialogues, National Women's Day events and gender-inclusive leadership work that connect community voices to policymakers.
All 17 goals, one agenda
Every goal has a place in our agenda. SDG 5 and SDG 17 run through all four dimensions, and our dialogue and participation work contributes directly to SDG 16.
